Stop and write down what has actually been accepted. A rushed second bet can turn a small problem into a larger one. Recovery starts with the real position, not the plan you had before the price moved.
Use the same pause for every error
- Do not place another bet while you are unsure of the exposure.
- Record the accepted back stake, odds, event, market and selection.
- Record the lay stake actually matched, its odds and the unmatched amount. A submitted lay is not the same as a matched lay.
- Check both possible results, including commission and any void or settlement difference.
- Only then decide whether a new lay, cash-out or accepting the exposure is the least bad option. Fees and changed prices matter.
Common cases
| Problem | First check |
|---|---|
| Lay odds moved | Recalculate from the accepted back bet and the live lay price. The qualifying loss will change. |
| Lay only partly matched | Use the matched amount, not the requested amount, when checking both outcomes. |
| Wrong market or selection | Treat the bets as separate positions until you know exactly what each one covers. |
| One side voided | Check the other side's settlement rules and whether that bet is still live. |
The bet recovery tool can help with common mismatches. Enter only the bets that were accepted, check the result independently and do not increase your stake just to chase the original estimate. If you cannot establish the exposure, pause and contact the relevant operator or exchange.
