Check eligibility and the reward rules before calculating profit. A good looking free bet has no value if the qualifying bet does not trigger it.
Read the offer in this order
- Who can use it? New customers only, one per household, account history, location and any opt-in or code.
- What qualifies? Minimum stake and odds, eligible sports and markets, settlement deadline, cash-out exclusions and whether the bet must win or merely settle.
- What is the reward? Free bet value, stake returned or not returned, number of tokens, expiry, minimum odds and excluded markets.
- What could change? Promotional dates, operator changes, exchange availability, commission and the price you can actually match.
For a fictional £10 bet-and-get, a £10 qualifying back bet at 2.0 is not enough information. If a code is required, the price must be above 2.0 rather than equal to it, or your old account is excluded, the reward may not arrive. Each detail changes the result.
Loss refunds and place refunds
A loss refund can pay when the qualifying bet loses. A horse-racing place refund may pay only if your selection finishes in named positions, such as second or third. Finishing elsewhere can mean no reward at all. Check the trigger, the refund cap and whether the reward is cash or a stake-not-returned free bet.
The risk-free calculator models a refund on any qualifying loss. Do not use that model for a place-only refund. Work out the outcomes separately and leave the offer unpriced if the reward format or eligible positions are unclear.
Estimate the whole offer
Calculate the qualifying loss first. Then calculate what you could retain from the free bet after its lay and exchange commission. Subtract any costs and leave room for a price moving or the lay only matching in part. The estimate is conditional on the terms being met; it is not a guaranteed payout.
Use the current betting offers as a starting point, then open the operator's own terms before placing a bet. If eligibility is unclear, ask the operator and keep the answer. If the terms change or the numbers are too tight, skip the offer.
