A 10x requirement on a £10 bonus means £100 of qualifying stakes at full game contribution. The multiplier only makes sense once you know what it applies to and which games count.
Find the wagering base
A fictional offer gives a £10 bonus. At 10x bonus-only wagering, you need £100 of qualifying turnover. Read the exact wagering base instead of assuming the deposit is included. Current Gambling Commission rules cap requirements to play through bonus funds at 10 times. That does not mean every game contributes fully, or that every offer is worth doing.
Check contribution and restrictions
- Game contribution: if a game contributes only 10%, £10 of stakes clears just £1 of the requirement. To clear £100 that way would take £1,000 of stakes.
- Maximum stake: a bet above the allowed amount can void the bonus.
- Expiry: check how long you have and whether the bonus or winnings disappear if time runs out.
- Cash and bonus order: find out which balance is used first and whether you may withdraw your deposit before the bonus is cleared.
- Maximum conversion: some bonuses cap the amount you can withdraw even after wagering.
Turnover is the total amount staked, not the expected loss. A game with a 96% theoretical return has a 4% house edge. On a completed £100 of actual stakes that suggests about £4 average loss over many comparable runs. This is not a calculation of the chance of completing bonus wagering before the balance runs out. One short session can finish far above or below the average.
If a £100 bonus has 10x bonus-only wagering, the target is £1,000 at full contribution. At 30% contribution, clearing that same target through one game would take about £3,333.34 in stakes. Check the contribution and RTP version in the game you actually open before relying on any example or EV estimate.
Write down the wagering base, multiplier, eligible games, contribution, max stake, expiry and withdrawal cap. Then use the wagering requirements calculator, or do the turnover maths yourself. If a term is missing or unclear, ask the operator before depositing.
