Chart notes. Based on standard multi-deck (4-8 decks) basic strategy, dealer stands on soft 17. D/S means double down if allowed, otherwise stand. Pairs: 5,5 should be treated as hard 10 (never split). The pairs chart changes with the double-after-split toggle above, since splitting is worth less when you cannot double the resulting hands.

Resplitting and hand limits. If you split a pair and draw a third card of the same rank, the correct play is usually to split again, and most multi-deck tables let you go to three or four hands. When the table caps you out or the button is greyed, play the hand on its total instead. A pair of 7s against a 6 with no resplit available is hard 14 against a bust card, so you stand. Split aces are the exception: nearly every table deals one card each and closes the hand there.
